A Gardener's Gift Guide

It's that time of year! And if you're stuck for what to buy the gardener in your life for Christmas (or anytime of year!) we have some great gift ideas.

Top 5 present Ideas for your friend who loves gardening

  1. Gardening Workshops

Across the UK, there has been an explosion of fun and creative gardening workshops over the last few years. People have become increasingly interested in learning the 'how tos' of the gardening world, enjoying the hands-on experience and learning how to DIY their own gardens.

At Apuldram Roses, we have been hosting several workshops throughout the year to discuss a range of rose-related tips and tricks that keep your roses looking enviously good. This is the perfect present for those friends and family who already have everything; give them the chance to learn a new skill.

There are tickets available for our rose pruning workshops through February and March, where our eager students come out in the cold and get a well-rounded session on the ins and outs of Spring pruning.

We always finish up with a hot drink and a slice of homemade cake, and most of our attendees head straight home to grapple with their own roses! A fun, educational, and memorable time is had by all! Why not gift the experience to a loved one this year? Or get yourself a ticket too and enjoy together!

  1. Plants

Winter may seem like the wrong time for gifting plants, but all hardened gardeners will know the benefits of winter planting. Although a bulb or a bare root might not be much to look at (and not very easy to wrap!) but your gardening friends will know that what looks like a twig now will burst into life in Spring, and that the wait makes the payoff even more exciting!

We have a variety of roses for gifting, from Mum in a Million to Happy Memories, so you'll always find a rose with the right name.

Yellow roses

But did you know that Yellow Roses are associated with joy and friendship? This makes yellow roses a great gift for friends and family.

Pink Roses

Pink Roses are associated with gratitude and appreciation. If you need roses to say thank you, or maybe for mum, pink roses are a great choice.

White Roses

White Roses are associated with new beginnings and young love, making them a great choice for celebrating a new birth or for young friends and family.

  1. Gift Cards

Perhaps the best gift for a gardener, is the gift of choice! A gift cards gives your green-fingered friend a chance to plan their next gardening purchases. When you're at the mercy of the changing weather, it'll give them the freedom to get the exact variety they need for their garden, at the right time to planting.

You can buy Apuldram Roses Gift Cards online, as well as over the phone or at the nursery. The recipient can spend it in all of these ways, too. If they are local, they might treat themselves to a lovely cup of coffee and cake at our cafe!

  1. A Trip to your local Garden Centre

This time of year, nurseries and garden centres really take that extra special step to get into the festive mood. They are truly special places during December, and a fun trip together during the festive season to pick out a little treat and grab a cup of coffee together can sometimes be the best present of all.

We've been working hard decorating our nursery, and we've got some lovely, cosy spaces to enjoy a warming seasonal drink and snacks. Why not pop in and see us and bring a friend along for a lovely treat?

  1. A helping hand in the garden

If your loved one is busy this winter with work, family, and all the day-to-day jobs that pile up, why not give them the gift of one less thing to do in the garden? There are plenty of fantastic professionals who can do some of the necessary winter care, while they might not be able to do it themselves.

At Apuldram Roses, we offer an at home winter rose pruning service. Jonathan will prune your roses, offer personalised advice on rose care and planting, and can bring along products or new roses if you’d like them professionally planted.

He'll also take away any waste, leaving your roses and garden looking good and ready for the season ahead. Our Rose pruning service is available within 30 minutes drive of our nursery, Apuldram Roses in Chichester.
